The beauty of Yamunai Aatrile and Shobana Chandrakumar | Ilayaraja | Maniratnam | Thalapathi

Raaja Raaja dhaaan!!!

The song which starts as "Yamunai Aatrile" is set in the raaga "Yamuna Kalyani" ЁЯШНЁЯТпЁЯМ╣ Beautiful right? Sung by "Mitali Banerjee Bhawmik" who is considered as an exponent of Hindustani Classical vocal music.

The way the singer sings, "Kooda" : "роЗро░ро╡ுроо் рокோройродு, рокроХро▓ுроо் рокோройродு, роорой்ройрой் роЗро▓்ро▓ைропே роХூроЯ!"  There is a longing. There is a search. There is missing . There is helplessness. There is a sadness that he is not there. If we listen it keenly, we can find this particular word's structure is different from other end rhymes - not as notes but in the "feel" ЁЯШкЁЯМ╣(End rhymes are the end word of a verse which rhymes with the other verse - роЖроЯ, родேроЯ, ро╡ாроЯ)

"роХрог்рогройோроЯு родாрой் роЖроЯ!"
"рокாро╡ை ро░ாродைропோ ро╡ாроЯ!"
(Debates apart from the beliefs, just a small comparison) Just like how Lord Krishna never married Radha, whom he loved so much, and the one who was in love with him - the same happens here. Both are in love with each other but is never married to each other. Here the poet compares "Suriya" with Kannan and "Subbhulakshmi" with Radhai. ♥️ (Radha and Lord Krishna's love story which is hailed as one of the greatest of all times)

Also after the verse - "роЖропро░்рокாроЯிропிро▓்
роХрог்рогрой் роЗро▓்ро▓ைропோ.."
She is teaching music and without her knowledge as she sings, she starts feeling for him. She is drowned in love. She thinks of him, smiles and hides it out as she sees the faces of the students. And the dancing of her jhumkas while she sings "роЖроЯ". Beautiful. Love how Shobana delivers the feel of the song through her expressions. Just with her expressions. At once she is happy ЁЯШН, at once she is sad ЁЯШг, at once she is longing ЁЯЩБ, at once she is in search ЁЯСА A dilemma of feelings. Yes, "роЖроЪை ро╡ைрок்рокродே, роЕрой்рокு родொро▓்ро▓ைропோ!"

NOW HEAR THE SONG AGAIN.
This song is about Love, Devotion, surrendering to God and a poem on Lord Kanna.
